Procedure
• Under sedation, a pediatric colonoscope examines the colon and terminal ileum
• Biopsies or polypectomy as needed
Afterwards
• Monitor in recovery until sedative wears off
• Clear liquids first, advance diet cautiously
Risks
• Abdominal cramping, bloating
• Bleeding, rare perforation
