Why it’s done:

  • Rectal bleeding, diarrhea
  • Suspected IBD or polyps

Preparation:

  • Bowel prep with laxatives
  • Clear-liquid diet

What to expect:

  • Sedation given
  • Scope passed through rectum
  • Takes 20–30 minutes

Risks:

  • Bloating, bleeding
  • Rare perforation

Follow-up:

  • Results in 3–5 days
  • Surveillance if needed
