What Happens During Management?
- Medication: Corticosteroids for induction, immunomodulators, biologics (adalimumab).
- Endoscopy/Imaging: Periodic colonoscopy or MR enterography to assess disease.
- Nutrition: Exclusive enteral nutrition for pediatric patients; dietitian support.
What Can I Expect Afterwards?
- Improvement in weeks; maintenance therapy to sustain remission.
Risks & Possible Complications
- Fistulas, strictures
- Malnutrition, bone loss
Follow-Up
- Colonoscopy every 1–3 years for colon cancer surveillance if colonic disease present.
- Imaging for small-bowel disease as indicated.
