How Should I Prepare?

- MRI to quantify liver iron.
What Happens During Treatment?
- Phlebotomy: weekly removal of 500 mL blood until iron normalized.
- Maintenance: phlebotomy every 2–4 months.
- Avoid iron supplements and high-iron foods.
What Can I Expect Afterwards?
- Fatigue and skin hyperpigmentation improve over months.
- Long-term monitoring of organ function.
Risks & Possible Complications

- Hypotension or dizziness during phlebotomy
Follow-Up
- Ferritin and transferrin saturation every 3–6 months.
